Digital Editor (Persian)

IITV's Digital News Hub is a dynamic news service that operates tirelessly around the clock, providing an extensive range of news content for multiple platforms and across different language services. The News Hub offers fast, clear, and accurate coverage of news, presents thorough analysis of the developments, and invests in exclusive reporting, as well as in-depth and high-impact investigations.

Editor is a key member of the Digital News Hub, who oversees the flow of news and acts as a liaison between different teams and departments. They work with multimedia journalists and senior reporters to assign stories based on their expertise and news priorities. They supervise the Breaking News Hub, and commission freelancers based on the news agenda. They also supervise the operation of the UGC Hub to ensure the production of relevant content for the newsroom. Furthermore, they work closely with video and podcast producers to create visual and audio content for websites and other digital platforms. With their strong news judgement, they edit, rewrite, and reshape stories.

Responsibilities
Reporting to the Head of News Desk and closely cooperating with other editors.

Creating harmony within the system and between the news hub and other departments, especially television.

Publishing the daily outlook and updating it throughout the day.

Ensuring stories have context by producing sharp headlines, punchy leads, and lively writing.

Ensuring stories meet standards for accuracy, speed, balance, and clarity.

Supervising the presentation of content on websites and other digital platforms.

Creating a culture of discussion and debate within the News Hub.

Identifying mistakes in news coverage and offering solutions to prevent their repetition.

Guiding senior reporters in their exclusive and investigative reports.

Building collaborative working relationships between the digital team, TV and radio, and between different languages.

Assessing IITV's social media presence and offering new strategies based on in-depth studies.

To assume a managerial role within the team and work with the HR department to effectively lead on all aspects of people management.

Requirements
Strong writing and editing skills.

Journalistic experience at high levels in a newsroom for at least 10 years.

Knowledge of the news production process, including researching, gathering information, fact-checking, and verifying sources.

A keen eye for detail to catch errors, inconsistencies, and factual inaccuracies.

Ability to prioritise and interpret the key stories of the day and offer fresh angles in coverage that are relevant to the target audience.

Strong leadership skills to guide and motivate their team effectively.

Good communication skills for providing feedback and coordinating news coverage.

Thorough knowledge of news and current affairs in Iran, the Middle East, and the world.

Experience in making judgments on matters of great editorial sensitivity.

Knowledgeable about legal and ethical issues related to reporting, such as libel, privacy, and copyright.

Ability to work efficiently under pressure, and ability to prioritise tasks.

Proficient in using content management systems (CMS), digital publishing tools, and other relevant software. Familiarity with search engine optimization (SEO) principles and social media platforms is also beneficial.

Fluent spoken and written Farsi and English.
