Our content seeks to entertain, inform and empower children, adding real value to their lives.BBC Childrens In House Drama Team is responsible for a wide range of multi-platform drama and comedy including The Dumping Ground, 4 OClock Club, Hetty Feather, The Worst Witch, Creeped Out and upcoming production, Katy.We are looking for an experienced Scripted Development Producer to join our team, to have a particular focus on comedy and comedy drama for 6-16s.Role ResponsibilityAs Scripted Development Producer for BBC Childrens In House Drama Team, you will seek out and develop new drama and comedy for BBC Childrens In House slate.Youll respond quickly and creatively to commissioning briefs and other opportunities to develop projects for TV and other platforms to the highest standards, playing an important role in securing new commissions for the In House Drama Team.Youll provide editorial input to the team in areas including responding to the submission of story ideas, scripts and books. Working with the other Scripted Development Producers and the Head of Scripted Development, youll also contribute to the ongoing development strategy of the team.The Ideal CandidateOur ideal candidate will have a passion for childrens drama and comedy, as well as a good knowledge of the audience, and the wider childrens scripted content industry in the UK and internationally.Youll have a strong creative track record and experience of developing television ideas to commission in drama or comedy. Youll have a good knowledge of both experienced and emerging writers, as well as strong existing relationships with a wide range of writers. Youll also have substantial script editing experience, and a fluent writing style (for script notes, sales materials etc).Experience of working in scripted comedy development is essential, as well as a strong knowledge of comedy writers. Knowledge and experience of multi-platform development is important and experience of working with international co-production partners would be an asset. Youll have plenty of initiative, be able to adapt quickly to new challenges and enjoy working within a small, busy team.
