The Children's Development producer for comedy and entertainment will report directly to the Head of Unscripted Development, who is based in Salford. This role will also involve lots of collaboration with the Genre Lead for Comedy and Entertainment, who is also Salford based.This role will be one of two Children's development producers in Glasgow, with the other role focussing more on factual and entertainment content. Both producers will share the managerial responsibility of an assistant producer and researcher who will be working to both Glasgow-based roles.Role ResponsibilityTo develop fun, robust comedy and entertainment formats for 0-16's which help prepare the audience for adult life and reflect the commissioning priorities for 2019/20.To guide the development team, leading by example, to deliver landmark content for new and existing comedy entertainment programming, whilst also feeding into the development of factual entertainment ideas that will inspire and entertain our audienceProducing engaging, exciting and innovative programme proposal briefs, presentations and taster tapes Setting up, participating in and facilitating creative brainstorms with both the development team in Glasgow and with other colleagues in Children's and across Pacific QuayFinding and developing new, diverse and relevant on-screen talent for both CBeebies and CBBCWorking closely with the interactive, short form and social leads to develop truly multiplatform ideasEnsuring all priorities set by the Head of Unscripted Development and the Genre Lead for Comedy and Entertainment, receive due coverageTo manage the workflow, day to day, of the Glasgow-based development team ensuring junior members of the team are nurtured and developedBuild and maintain relationships with key in-house production teams across Children's and the wider BBC to ensure effective collaborationDevelop relationships with key suppliers and innovators, such as new tech start-ups, studio, crews and edit facilitiesTake responsibility for delivering to tight deadlines while maintaining the highest editorial standardsTo be able to suggest and spot strong stories and offer creative and compelling ways of formatting and telling these storiesWhile you can expect to be in the office for the majority of your time, this role involves travel to connect with local children or to attend filming locations, as required, as well as meetings in the Salford offices around once a month.The Ideal CandidateKnowledge of Children's content and recent in-house and independent production commissions is crucialCandidates should have leadership experience and able to motivate others Track record of writing and pitching ideasHighly creative, experience of developing ideas and running ideas sessions
