DEVELOPMENT PRODUCER
The development producer is responsible for initiating and managing the pipeline of ideas coming out of the development department at Sugar Films.
- must be TV-obsessed, creative, clever and fun;
- must watch lots and lots of telly and understand factual in all its different forms;
- must have previous development experience and be able to generate a broad range of genre and channel-specific ideas;
- must be able to sculpt and format ideas, shoot taster tapes and write lively treatments;
- must have excellent people skills, the ability to listen and be persuasive;
- must have the ability to translate ideas into TV propositions that stand out in the hyper-competitive factual TV space;
- must have an excellent grasp of how to harness social media in the search for good characters and stories;
- must be willing to bash the phones, chat to experts and be able to elicit stories and experiences from all kinds of people;
- has to be able to come up with original and challenging TV shows as well as think of original or contemporary twists on more familiar territory;
- must be able to manage a diverse slate of proposals and propositions.
