Role: Development Assistant & Office Administrator (TV/Film Production Company)Location: Greek Street, LondonSalary: £24k - £30k (depending on experience) per annumHours: 09:00 - 18:00 / Monday to Friday, with an hour's break for lunch - currently expected to work from the office on the core days of Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday, and if required on Mondays and Fridays due to meetings or other activities. Can work from home the rest of the time, until such time as office use by the team might revert to pre-COVID19 practices.Contract: Initial one year with a one month probation period.We are an independent TV/Film production company based in Soho. It is our intention that all staff have opportunities to gain experience in a variety of roles, enabling them to learn about different aspects of the industry.This is a very important role, reporting to the Managing Director, as it represents the first point of contact for the company both on the phones and in person, as well as a key member of our busy creative team. It requires someone with great communication and organisational skills, as well as a personable manner, who is able to work within a small team where everyone is often required to 'pitch in', looking after our company and (to a limited extent, and only if required) other companies within our building.Development- Be the first port of call for external submissions. Make sure they are logged and someone is reading. Keep an eye on the log, co-ordinate with the members of the creative team to make sure they don't stack up and we respond to third parties efficiently.- Read submissions where appropriate and be able to provide meaningful coverage - assessing projects on a case by case basis according to Endor's needs as a company, and recommending follow-up action as appropriate.- Draft responses to third-party submissions when required.- Assume ownership of the slate document. Keep it regularly maintained and track progress: keep an eye on action points and track them to ensure that the creative team follows through, with prompting as required.- Rights checks: tracking down the status of adaptation rights for books and other IP.- Diary management on behalf of the team where appropriate.- Keep an eye on industry news/trades/agency and publishing house book catalogues.- Research on an ad hoc basis.- Assistance with putting together treatments, pitch decks, and other editorial materials.- Occasional availability checks on writers, directors, actors.- Providing script editing and other development assistance during production, as required.- Maintaining a database of talent and talent representatives.- Taking notes on creative calls.- Admin: watermarking scripts, front covers, ensuring all current slate materials are on the server, typo passes.- Generally providing such assistance as the creative team may reasonably require.Office management / front of house- First point of contact for the company both on the phones and in person: greet, offer drinks and inform staff as appropriate.- Arranging travel for team members when required, including cars, flights, hotel bookings, currency, car parking etc and creating travel itineraries.- Sorting and distributing post.- Ordering couriers; booking transport.- Dropping off/collecting packages (locally, on foot), buying food and drink for the office.- Keeping the general office areas looking neat and tidy.- Assisting with the daily maintenance of the entire building (including toilets) and meeting rooms: preparing tea/coffee first thing and throughout the day when required, watering plants, taking regular gas and electricity meter readings etc. This is in addition to the work being carried out by the office's dedicated a cleaning team.- Making sure the boardroom/meeting rooms are cleared between meetings and kept in good order.- Dealing with general enquiries and correspondence.- Managing stock levels and ordering/buying stationery when required.- Filing press and publicity.- Managing petty cash tins (counting cash, petty cash vouchers, reimbursing tins).- Until such time as a Finance Assistant is recruited, assisting the Finance Director in processing the monthly credit card transactions.Key qualities:- Must love TV and film, and watch A LOT- Must love reading - and ideally have done some freelance script-reading- Passion for the industry- Curiosity and hunger to learn- Organised and able to multi-task- Personable and patient- Excellent inter-personal and communication skills, both written and verbal- Ability to work collaboratively, and also discreetly when handling sensitive information or situations- Excellent time-management and a knowledge of best office practice- Excellent workload prioritisation, attention to detail and the ability to meet deadlines and think ahead- Adapts and works effectively within a variety of situations.- Proficient in Word and Excel - familiarity with Final Draft and Adobe a plus.
