Development Assistant

London

CONTEXT

The Development Assistant reports to the Head of Development and works in close conjunction with the Development Executive to help in the sourcing and development of film and television projects for the company to produce. The Development Assistant provides administrative and creative support to the development team, and also helps coordinate the general administration of the office.

This vacancy represents a rare opportunity to join a small but very active development team working at the forefront of the industry to make films in both the studio and independent sectors.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

• To provide personal administrative support to the Head of Development and Development Executive: answering phones, setting meetings, managing submissions, logging material, organising travel etc.

• To help with the administration of the office in general: ordering supplies, filing, maintaining office equipment, coordinating with accounts and legal, managing petty cash etc.

• To provide creative support to the development team: reading scripts and books, attending screenings, undertaking research, writing development notes and coverage.

• To seek out new material and take steps to identify new screenwriting/directing talent.


PERSONAL ATTRIBUTES, KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE

The ideal candidate will have:

• An avid enthusiasm for, and broad knowledge of, popular entertainment and culture. In particular: film, TV, literature, theatre, radio.

• A voracious appetite for reading, and an open-minded attitude towards material.

• Significant experience in a film and/or TV production environment.

• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

• Excellent attention to detail, positivity, enthusiasm, judgement, flexibility, and ability to perform under time pressure.

• A good working knowledge of new and established screenwriting/directing talent.

• A good working knowledge of established literary and talent agents.
