Creative and Casting Associate

London

Trafalgar Studios and Trafalgar Theatre Productions are seeking a creative and energetic individual with a passion for the theatre and creating new projects to join our busy production team as Creative and Casting Associate, working on Trafalgar Theatre Productions and Trafalgar Studios' acclaimed slate of productions.

This is a new role which is open to being shaped by and built around a successful candidate, but key responsibilities will be helping to shape the artistic programming of Trafalgar Studios and Trafalgar Theatre Productions with specific responsibility for casting new projects.

It will involve attending productions in London, regionally and internationally, reading and reviewing scripts, brainstorming casting ideas and managing Trafalgar's relationships with agents and actors in the UK and internationally. It is an ideal role for someone with an awareness of both established and "up and coming" actors and creatives, and with an eye on forging exciting creative partnerships between writers, directors and actors to create ground-breaking theatrical productions.

The role really is an open-book for a creative, driven and passionate individual looking for a fresh opportunity to progress their career, specifically in terms of developing new productions and forging new partnerships in the West End, regionally and internationally. As it is a new role that is open for input from the successful candidate, we do not wish to be too prescriptive, but a typical week could involve attending productions and writing reports, leading on the casting of new productions, meeting artists and agents, writing script reports, making proposals for future productions, attending previews of in-house productions and providing notes, and much more besides.

Relevant prior experience could include work as a Casting Director/Associate, Acting Agent, Director /Associate, or Creative Producer, but rather than being overly prescriptive we are interested to hear from anyone with relevant artistic and creative experience in the broadest sense. Please note that this is not a role that will involve directing productions yourself.

Trafalgar Entertainment (TE) is a fast growing theatre and live entertainment business that produces Theatre Productions in the West End, nationally and internationally. Recent productions include The King & I, Admissions, The Grinning Man and co-productions of Misty and Nine Night with The Bush and the National Theatre respectively. TE owns and operates distinctive venues, including Trafalgar Studios, as well as creating, distributing and live-streaming innovative content.

Please give examples of relevant experience, your passion for theatre and your general thoughts on trends in casting in the West End and beyond. Specifically, we would also like your application to propose two plays for Trafalgar Studios with casting ideas for the main roles.
