ITV News has been an industry leader with its social content, and we're looking for someone to help keep us at the top of its game and continue to drive it forward.

This role will have responsibility for overseeing the day-to-day content of our award-winning social team, as well as helping deliver the wider strategic aims of social content across the operation. This role will help shape, support and drive the best of ITV News social video across multiple platforms to even greater audiences. You will help deliver our branded Rundown content, as well as commissioning original content and overseeing curation of the best available video for our main and politics accounts.

The role will help lead on growing the knowledge and skills on social from across the ITV News operation as we seek to make the newsroom a much more socially-adept and agile environment. It will also continue to grow our presence, audience and impact on major social platforms such as TikTok, ensuring we stay on top of, and ahead of, emerging trends and industry changes.

The role will also work with the Executive Digital Editor and Senior Leadership Team to help drive and execute the digital strategy for 2026 and beyond.

The role will act as a crucial conduit between our social team and the wider ITV News operation, including the ITV Regions and Good Morning Britain. It will help place social content at the heart of ITV News, championing our original social content and ensuring that we're using our social presence to create maximum impact with the best of ITV News' journalism.

Key Responsibilities
Overseeing and managing the day-to-day content created by the ITV News social team, as well as helping lead on wider social content strategy of ITV News.
Attending and leading main editorial meetings to shape the day's content
Driving our daily news bulletin, The Rundown, ensuring it continues to reach wide audiences on its intended platforms
Helping drive and oversee on-the-day and planned content for our main and Politics accounts
Ensuring ideas for social content are of a high enough quality to deliver beyond social platforms when and where appropriate.
Driving ITV News growth across all major platforms including, but not limited to, Instagram Youtube Shorts and TikTok.
Working closely with the Executive Digital Editor to make key editorial judgements across all our social content as well as driving longer-term story and stratgey ideas.
Ensuring ITV News stays on-trend, and ahead of trend, with all its social output
Helping generate original stories and ideas that appeal to younger audiences across our key platforms
Supporting individual members of the social team with their original content, ensuring it has maximum impact across all intended platforms
Leading on training within the newsroom, both of APs, Producers and DCE-level to help support the social team roster, as well as widening the pool of skillsets and content from across the newsroom.
Being the conduit between our social team and the wider ITV News operation, including the ITV Regions and Good Morning Britain, ensuring that the best of the day-to-day editorial agenda is reflected on our social output where appropriate
Liaising closely with the ITV News regional newsrooms and digital hub to ensure that the best of ITV News regional content is reflected in our social output where appropriate
Expectations to work across other platforms and programmes as and when required
Occasional responsibility to work in other areas of the ITV News operation in a similar capacity as and when required
Ensuring all ITV News social content upholds premium standards of news values, compliance, taste and decency
Ensure our social content reflects the diversity of our audience
Ensuring there is close co-operation, understanding and creative cross-promotion of social content across all ITV platforms
Helping lead and plan ITV News social content around major news events
Attending and leading planning meetings to ensure original and diaried social content is well planned and executed
Helping deliver maximum impact for the best of ITV News journalism across our key social platforms
Being a cheerleader for ITV News social content in the industry.

Key Requirements
A superb understanding of social/digital/multi-platform journalism
Awareness of existing and emerging social platforms and trends
A creative and dynamic journalist with superb organisational skills
A cool and calm operator with a positive "can do" approach
Be a team player and a good communicator
Be ambitious and agile in your approach
A good communicator with a strong ability to solve problems
Demonstrable experience of training individuals and teams in the social space
Demonstrable experience of running daily news agenda and the teams that deliver them
Excellent editorial judgement in line with the ITV News agenda
A brilliant understanding of key issues that impact younger audiences and how to deliver content around them
A superb grasp of storytelling in the digital sphere
An ability to devise creative digital treatments around key stories and issues
Ability to take major and complex mainstream news events and help deliver them to younger audiences
A strong writer, with experience of writing across multiple platforms
Experience of digital publishing, social posting
A keen understanding of digital audiences and the metrics by which we can test their appetite and sentiments
Scrupulous attention to detail when checking content for accuracy and style
An eye for identifying the best use of picture and graphics
An excellent knowledge and understanding of the importance of diverse contributors in digital coverage
Great understanding of the ITN compliance manual
Awareness of Health and Safety requirements
Awareness and understanding of the financial implications of all decision making
