Content Editor

London

As the Content Editor, Features, you will oversee the strategic planning, creation, and delivery of compelling Feature content across our Transport Brands, including Steam Railway and Model Rail, and to relevant digital platforms.

Reporting to the Head of Content and Deputy Head of Content, you will play a crucial role in crafting engaging copy and developing innovative articles that resonate with our audience. Utilising tools like Monday.com for planning, Woodwing Studio for article creation, and Woodwing Assets for image management, you will ensure seamless workflow management from inception to publication.

Proactively seeking feedback and opportunities for growth, you will enhance your skills and knowledge continuously. Your deep understanding of diverse audience segments, combined with research insights, will drive content excellence across all channels.

Hybrid working is available, with some travel to our Peterborough office required for collaboration.

Key Responsibilities:

Editorial Content Planning

Works with Head of Content, Deputy Head of Content and Content Editor to explore, plan and generate feature ideas
Organises their diary to ensure assigned work is delivered on time and to plan
Uses boards in Monday.com to view briefs, manage assignments and move the workflow to the next stage

Delivery

Plans, organises and creates features content for relevant platforms, generates, shares and encourages ideas with the Head of Content and wider content team
Follows briefs and direction from the Head of Content, and works with freelance contributors to create best-in-class feature content for Steam Railway and Model Rail
Creates complete base articles, ensuring all copy and pictures are in place (in conjunction with Art Director and picture team where appropriate) and optimised for print
Where appropriate/as directed, they will pin the base article to the layout template and use Print Editor to fit headlines, sells and pull quotes & create design briefs using sticky notes, before assigning layout to design
Seeks guidance from the Head of Content when needed, to ensure that the style and tone of core content is on-brand
Delivers planned content on time and to the correct quality standards, seeking advice and guidance from Head of Content when needed
Delivers against OKRs and KPIs in collaboration with the wider Transport Team

Reviewing

Stays on top of new industry news, trends and ideas and reviews competition, suggesting feature ideas to the Head of Content and wider content team
Seeks feedback from the Head of Content and Deputy Head of Content to ensure work is of the highest quality and meets the brand brief, and asks for help and support when needed, to ensure continuous improvement on quality and efficiency

Team Performance and Development

Strives for high performance and driving continuous improvement, by partnering with the wider Content Team to learn from their experience in ideation, storytelling, content creation and brand style and tone
Keeps abreast of changes and updates to GPS systems and ways of working, and attends scheduled and ad-hoc drop-ins to ensure they understand how changes impact them and can implement new ways of working
Proactively seeks feedback, support and guidance when needed to ensure their output is to the highest quality standards and they are continuously learning and improving
Takes ownership of their personal development, in partnership with their line manager, by taking advantage of development opportunities including Digital Drop-ins, Bauer Academy courses, coaching and mentoring etc.

What You'll Bring:

Able to plan and prioritise your work to meet deadlines
Can demonstrate you have the foundational knowledge and skills, and a positive mindset, to learn how to create compelling, quality content that can be shared across multiple brands and platforms and will resonate with audiences
Is proficient at creating complete base articles that require minimal corrections at design stage
Understands and follows the Master Workflow with a clear understanding of their role and responsibilities to ensure the workflow moves smoothly and efficiently
Is proficient in using boards in Monday.com to complete assigned work and move them through the workflow
Is proficient in using GPS editorial production tools including WoodWing Assets and WoodWing Studio
