Then this is the position for you.This is an opportunity to join an Award-winning audio production team in BBC Studios. We specialise in making comedy, entertainment and comedy drama shows and podcasts. We champion the work of new and emerging talent as well as working with some of the all-time greats. Could you be the next producer to devise an iconic comedy or entertainment show that moves the dial in the comedy world? We like to think so!We make about 150 hours of radio and podcasts a year. For Radio 4 our shows include The News Quiz, Just a Minute, Mark Steel's In Town, Newsjack, Sarah Keyworth: Are You a Boy or a Girl, Daliso Chaponda's Citizen of Nowhere, Nature Table, Ellie Taylor's Safe Space, Dead Ringers, Darren Harriott: Red Label and many many more. Our podcasts for Spotify include Sorted with the Dyers and Rose and Rosie: Parental Guidance Spotify and Jacob Hawley: On Drugs, The Sink, Eddie Hearn: No Passion No Point, and Inside Inside no. 9 for BBC Sounds.There is an opportunity to work closely with TV colleagues and we are keen to develop audio ideas with TV outcomes - could you be the person who develops the next big comedy hit?This job will be suitable for experienced audio entertainment producers but also researchers or APs who have a lot of show-making experience in the TV Comedy and Entertainment space and who want to progress to producers. This could also apply if you have made content that is digital only and self-madeRole ResponsibilityYou will devise and produce original, innovative and entertaining radio shows and podcastsYou'll be able to recognise amazing new talent, and have ideas of how to turn what they do online or on stage into must-hear audio. You'll also be comfortable working with some of the most established names aroundYou'll be familiar with the UK comedy scene, and be able to build positive links with agents, execs and commissionersIdea generation by yourself and with othersYou'll set up and oversee all stages of the production process efficiently and with attention to detailYou'll know how to manage a budget and bring your productions in on time and on budget.You'll ideally have experience of hands on recording with basic mic set-upsYou'll ideally have basic sound editing skillsYou'll know how important diversity of life experience is and will make nurturing talent from all walks of life a key priority. We want to reflect the make-up of the whole of the UK population whether that be gender, ethnicity, disability, class, sexuality or regionalityThe Ideal CandidateYou should be passionate and knowledgeable about comedy as a must-have. What we will want you to convey in this application is your ambition and knowledge of the current comedy scene.Ideally you will have had programme making experience and experience of developing new programmes, and will have taken ideas from early stages of development all the way through to production.We would like you to be familiar with comedy and entertainment output on BBC Sounds and Radio 4 and beyond in podcasting. Think about the sorts of shows that you like and dislike and the ones you want to work on. What show ideas do you have that might be the next big thing in podcasting - and what talent need and deserve their own comedy show on Radio 4 right now? We would like you to have ideas on how to improve and refresh existing formats.You will be able to demonstrate superb planning skills, and the ability to manage several areas of work at one time. You'll know how to prioritise your workload and deliver to a deadline.You'll have excellent communication skills, both in listening to your team and sharing your vision for the programmes you make.You will have experience of working with and motivating a team on production - from sound engineers and production co-ordinators to writers and actors. You'll be able to bring your team together to make your programmes the best they can be.You'll want to develop great new ideas that are representative of the UK population championing talent with a range of backgrounds and life experiences.#youmakethebbcIf you don't have much audio experience but have experience in comedy and are passionate about people who make it, we suggest you apply for the concurrently advertised band C role which is a part time role (4 days a week).
