Color Assist

Picture Head is a premier global destination for film and TV marketing post-production, serving the largest studios in promoting their tent pole films and series.

We are looking for a post-production Color Assist to support theatrical and video color work at our Hollywood locations. As a Color Assist, you would interface with our Colorists, Editors, and Producing team to ensure that projects and rooms are set up and maintained to the highest visual standards. Key skills would consist of the ability to calibrate and set up projection along with video rooms and displays, build and manage color projects, as well as render and QC deliverables. Our ideal candidate would have the ability to work as part of a team as well as independently, demonstrating strong communication skills and attention to detail. Responsibilities:

Build projects and setup timelines for the color team in Davinci Resolve and Baselight with a strong awareness of color management requirements.
Responsible for timeline prep of marketing color projects, including but not limited to trailers, TV spots, social media spots, and GFX-related color finishing.
Ability to prepare title graphics as well as show footage for color correction. This can include online conforming or verifying the accuracy of the conform, as well as ensuring any necessary mattes, LUTs, and transforms are accounted for.
Work directly with colorists to implement the client's intent for the look and feel of a project. Support the lead colorist(s) with pre-grading, as well as color support for all pipelines and workflows.
Render deliverables in a variety of formats including DCDM's, SD and HDR video deliverables, social shapes, etc. QC renders with a strong attention to detail to maintain Picture Head's high standards for quality and accuracy in our client deliveries.
Projector calibration and room set up including shooting the screen, projector preset management, and troubleshooting issues with the engineering team as they arise.
Video display calibration and set up for a variety of color spaces spanning both SDR and HDR.
Partner with the colorist, editor, and producers to ensure consistent and clearly defined workflows are adhered to throughout the project's color pipeline.
Train Jr. Color Assists on best practices and procedures.
Follow client or department specific color science workflows.
Fill out all work orders and reports for assigned projects.
Required Skills:

Knowledge of SDR and HDR video and theatrical workflows including Dolby Vision and Dolby Cinema.
Ability to work with various file types (EXR, DPX, TIFF, ProRes etc), in a range of color spaces, as well as comprehension of color science and ACES color workflows.
Proficient in Davinci Resolve and Baselight software platforms including usage for editorial, color correction and rendering of deliverables.
Excellent understanding of common color spaces such as rec709, P3, XYZ, and rec2020, as well as knowledge of color management, LUT's, and color space transforms.
The ability to shoot screens, set up projectors, and manage presets for a variety of cinematic color spaces and aspect ratios.
Excellent organizational and creative problem-solving skills to work on multiple projects simultaneously while displaying a high level of professionalism and commitment.
Familiarity with common video and theatrical delivery formats, including DCDM's.
Must be able to maintain a flexible schedule to meet production requirements; ability to work long hours as needed; ability to juggle multiple projects simultaneously.
Must be able to work independently and as part of a team, or under supervision. Able to step into other colorist's projects and maintain the creative intentions for those projects while respecting workflow procedures.
The ability to work collaboratively in a team environment.
Qualifications:



Education:

Undergraduate Degree.
Experience:

Minimum 3-5+ years of experience as a Color Assist in a post-production facility.
A track record of approaching new projects and challenges with a sense of ownership and willingness to assist peers.
