This senior editorial role will put you at the sharp end of Sky News journalism across Sky's web and app.
As a Chief Sub Editor for Sky News website and app, you will have the power to influence the day's news agenda and lead among our rivals.
You must be a dynamic journalist, with a flair for headline writing, the ability to spot a top line, and a critical eye.
You'll use your skills to break stories, sub and edit stories from straight newsleads to gripping features and investigations. You will also have the ability and ambition to step up and news edit the Sky News website and app.
This is a shift-based role with an average 9-day fortnight.
What you'll do:
Sub and polish news stories which will be read by millions of people around the world
Write great headlines and choose the best pictures
Break stories and send push notifications
Ensure the home page showcases the best of our journalism, with an engaging mix of content
Form the last line of defence against legal and editorial mistakes
Provide constructive feedback to reporters and help manage the performance of freelancers
Master the CMS and be ready to learn new tools
What you'll bring:
First class writing skills, a flair for headline writing, a great eye for a story and a passion for news
The ability to work calmly and retain good judgment in a consistently high-pressure environment while juggling differing demands
Experience handling big breaking-news scenarios
The organisational ability and mental agility to keep on top of lots of different strands of moving facts simultaneously
The judgement to protect our brand while maximising audience numbers
Hands-on experience of content management systems, photoshop and video production tools
