Character Artist (R&D)

Newcastle Upon Tyne

We're looking for a Character/3d Artist to join our R&D art team.

You'll support our Character Art Lead in the R&D Team, producing content for new and existing technology and pipelines. This is a role that will see you also working alongside our R&D Developers to create cutting edge technology for future projects and expand our asset library.

You'll also help to shape and develop our internal tools, while also contributing to the future evolution of our company and products. You may also be involved in the wider ecosystem of our metaverse, informing decisions around other artistic aspects of our products.



Responsibilities:



Build various types of assets and accessories (Backpacks, Hair, Clothing, etc);
Supporting R&D programmers in developing art assets to take advantage of pre-release features and upcoming technology.
Identifying and being a stakeholder for refinement and improvements to our internal tools, Maya Scripts, and workflows.
Working with our Technical Authors to document workflows and best practices for the development of content.
Working with fashion team to implement concept designs and identify/suggest alternative options if needed.
Support Character Art Lead with additional tasks and prototype work as needed.
Provide input on future direction(s) of character art pipelines, tools and technology.
Requirements
Experience working as a Character or 3d Artist within or for a studio.
Good working knowledge of Maya/3ds Max/Blender, Zbrush, Substance Painter, Xgen or similar tools.
Understanding of standard art pipelines
Understanding of PBR pipelines/Baking.
High to Low poly optimization experience.
Knowledge of version control software e.g. SVN, Git, Perforce;
Strong communicator.
Able to manage multiple tasks at once.
Ability to document work for other audiences.


Desirable



Understanding of other art pipelines - environments/animations/marketing.
Understanding of asset optimization/performance.
Game engine knowledge - Unity/Unreal.
Marvelous designer.
