Camera Operator

As part of the camera department, this role will significantly contribute to the effective and efficient technical delivery of productions, servicing the requirements of all Sky and some third party channels, using the resources of SPS. Working closely with the Camera Supervisors and Team Leaders across all disciplines, this role will apply best industry practice and strong operational skills, to deliver an exceptional service to our clients.

The role will necessitate regular weekend working and ad hoc shift patterns and may include some overnight working.

What You'll Do:

Operate all cameras in a variety of configurations, on recorded and live programming
Working across all of Sky TV, including - but not limited to - studios, locations, OBs and handheld work.
Operate semi-robotic and fully-robotic cameras to a high standard
Rig and de-rig camera kit, carry out routine maintenance and first-line fault finding on all camera and associated equipment.
Strive for high levels of delivery, best practice and Sky behaviours in all operational work.
Comply with Sky's Health & Safety policy manual, and Sky Production Studios specific Statement of Arrangements policy in relation to Health & Safety.

What You'll Bring:

Motivated and engaged, with the ability to communicate at all levels, eg peers, clients etc
A strong work ethic, with a willingness to get involved in all aspects of the department when required.
An awareness of costs and appreciation of seeking value for money.
Well informed and up to date on broadcast developments and production processes.
Valid UK driving licence.

Essential skills & experience:

Thorough understanding of the craft, theory and terminology of camera operation in analogue and digital multi-camera set-ups.
Practical understanding of all related disciplines in live TV production.
Operational awareness in live television multi-camera productions of all genres, including studio, location, OB and handheld work.
Excellent communication skills and client facing skills.
