Camera Assistant

Joining in this role, you will work closely with Camera Operators, Supervisors, Team Leaders, and the Manager of Cameras across all disciplines, applying best industry practices and a proactive mindset to help deliver exceptional service to our clients.

The role will involve regular weekend working, ad hoc shift patterns and may include some overnight working.

What You'll Do:

Provide support and assistance to Camera Supervisors, Senior Camera Operators and Camera
Operators on a range of studio, Outside Broadcast and single camera operations for
Sky Sports, Sky News and Sky Arts and Entertainment shows.
Assist with the rigging and de-rigging of camera kit, carry out routine maintenance and first-line fault finding on all cameras and associated equipment.
Deliver high quality work, following best practices and embodying the inclusive and collaborative behaviours expected at Sky.
Anticipate changes and adapt to diverse needs by proactively reviewing the programme schedule, demonstrating flexibility and problem-solving.
Comply with Sky's Health & Safety policy manual, and Sky Production Studios specific Statement of Arrangements policy in relation to Health & Safety and encouraging good practices.

What You'll Bring:

Have a good working knowledge of broadcast camera equipment and technologies, with an understanding of lens theory.
Be positive and proactive with a keen eye for detail working in a highly skilled and often fast-paced environment.
Must be confident working within established teams.
Conduct regular checks of camera equipment and associated kit (including in storage) and communicate any faults to relevant parties.
Address equipment and control system failures, escalating issues to relevant parties when necessary.
Valid UK driving licence.

Team Overview:

Sky Production Services provide production services for all of Sky's Content Creation teams - Sport, Sports News, Sky News, Sky Arts & Entertainment; we also provide our services to Independent Production Houses. We have over 700 talented people who make sure that our customers have a great content experience; from the pictures they see to the sound they hear.

SPS encompass all of the operational crafts and disciplines associated with programme making such as cameras, lighting, editing, audio mixing, ingest and media management to mention just a few. These teams of specialists can work across a variety of programmes in our state of the art studio facility, on location or at one of our many Outside Broadcast events.
