BACKGROUNDThe Screen Industries Growth Network (SIGN) is an exciting Film, TV and Games business-facing project led by the University of York, with £6.4m funding from Research England, the University and regional HEIs. The aim of SIGN is to enhance the competitiveness of and future-proof the screen-related industries (Film, Television, Games and other digital media including VR, AR and XR) in Yorkshire through a collaborative industry-higher education partnership.THE ROLEThe Business Development Manager (Executive Producer) will be to lead on developing and delivering a portfolio of knowledge exchange, innovation, and business development activities and initiatives to support the work of regional Film, Television and Games SMEs, micro-businesses, start-ups, sole traders and other creative practitioners within the screen-related industries. You will ensure the success of this portfolio of activities by developing key relationships with businesses and freelancers in the screen industries in Yorkshire, and the organisations that work with them. You will help to build a stronger regional screen economy and innovation-ready businesses, support the creation of new jobs and a more vibrant and productive relationship between industry and the higher education sector.Skills, Experience & Qualification neededYou should be educated to degree level or equivalent, or equivalent experience in a business-related area.Have a professional qualification or membership of a recognised body, and/or substantial experience gained in working within an organisation or running a business.Have an understanding of Knowledge Exchange and Innovation readiness in the creative/digital/screen industries.Thorough understanding of the needs of Micro and SME businesses and freelancers in the creative/digital/screen industries.Strong network development and management skills; able to form collaborative relationships with many different types of people both internally and externally; persuasive and influential.
