BBC Breakfast is looking for a broadcast producer to work on the UK's most successful breakfast TV show. More than six million people watch us every day and we need people who have the determination and imagination to deliver fantastic content to our audience. Main Responsibilities
* As a Journalist, you play a big part in putting the programme together both at the planning stage and while we are on air.
* You will come up with original story ideas, guests and production treatments and carry out background research. The role is primarily newsroom-based. You'll also work with operations colleagues in edit suites and the gallery. You will have experience of responding to breaking news with the ability to summarise complex issues calmly and clearly under significant time pressure. You may be sent to produce an Outside Broadcast or interview with a correspondent.
* Our producers work with colleagues across BBC News and other parts of the corporation.
* We expect high quality writing skills and the highest standards of accuracy, impartiality and fair dealing in accordance with the BBC's Editorial values.
* Breakfast is on air seven days a week and operates on a 24hr rota so day and night working is part of the job. The successful candidate must be able to work 12 hour shifts (day and night). This role will be based in Salford and, due to the nature of the role, it will not be possible to work remotely from another location.

Are you the right candidate?
We need people who match our ambition for the programme. The role is demanding and we set high standards. We expect that you will already be an established journalist. Ideally you have significant experience of working for a daily broadcast UK-wide news outlet in a live TV environment (with experience of studios, VTs and outside broadcasts). If, however, you are a professional journalist working in print or digital media with a passion for BBC Breakfast, a keen awareness of what makes impactful TV news and plenty of ideas for brilliant visual storytelling, then we'd welcome an application from you too.

BBC Breakfast producers get to work on a wide range of stories, so you will be creative and resourceful. You should have significant experience of taking a story from an initial idea to screen (or page or platform) including sourcing/booking guests, writing briefs and organising filming/OBs/reporters in under 24 hours.

Breakfast covers everything from the hardest, most complicated news stories to the human-interest items that everyone is talking about. You must be as skilled in researching, briefing and scripting around an interview with a cabinet minister as you are for one with a film star. Good writing skills and news judgement are essential.

Knowledge of TV production techniques, facilities and digital production skills including sourcing archive, editing, graphics - or an ability and willingness to learn them with some in-house training - are essential.
