Working as part of the larger PA Video Services team, the role comes with a high level of autonomy and opportunity to get involved in a broad range of Broadcast technology and IT areas of work. You will be responsible for engineering and operational support for the PA Video Services systems, associated hardware and software that is vital for the effective delivery of the service to clients and broadcast partners. You will report to and be fully supported by the Head of Technology. You'll use your knowledge of Linux and Microsoft operating systems and your understanding of IT networks to problem solve critical broadcast issues to ensure the smooth running of our services.Due to the breadth of skills and involvement required for this unique role, you could have previously been working as an IT Engineer or as part of an IT Helpdesk and be looking for a break into the broadcast technology industry. What you can expect day-to-day. Diagnose faults and take actions to rectify problems on broadcast and network systemsConfiguration and delivery of systems to clientsManage delivery of network connections to client sitesSupport of client sites, broadcast infrastructure and network connectivitySupport PA Video editorial in managing feed output and advance network connections Liaise with vendors in a confident and informed manner to minimise service disruptionCarrying out system upgrades and planning future network topologySupporting and helping cover our operations team Contribute to the development of new products and servicesDue to the nature of the role, it will require you to be on call some weekends/evenings (one week per 4, up to 2 weeks of nightwork per year). Some international travel may be required to client sites for installation and fault resolutionWhat We're Looking For.Strong IT skills including familiarity with networking hardware, protocols, and standards. Experience with computer networks, network administration, and network installation.Excellent communication abilities to effectively liaise with other team members, departments, and external suppliers or clients.Previous experience in IT engineering or IT helpdesk roles is advantageous, especially for those looking to transition into broadcast technology.While previous broadcast engineering experience is desirable, it is not required for this role. We are looking for individuals who are eager to learn and have a passion for technology and its application in the broadcasting sector.
