Broadcast and Video Lead

Birmingham

Oversee the planning, production, and delivery of all live broadcasts in conjunction with our broadcast partners, acting as the club's technical lead. Direct a team of videographers to create visually compelling content that brings the club's brand and story to life through cutting-edge video production. This content will showcase the club's teams (men's, women's, and academies) and matches, amplify our commercial ventures, and highlight the club's community impact through its Foundation. Ensure that all content across all platforms is engaging, innovative, resonates with our fans and partners, and enhances the club's presence.

ROLE RESPONSIBILITIES

Broadcast Production

Develop and execute the club's broadcast strategy across all media platforms, including television, radio, online streaming and in-stadium screens.
Oversee the entire broadcast production process, from pre-production planning to live execution and post-production editing.
Oversee the planning and production of live broadcasts, including matchday coverage, press conferences, and special events.
Oversee the use of broadcast technology, including cameras, sound equipment, lighting, and editing software.
Ensure the highest quality standards are maintained in all broadcasts, with a focus on clear, professional presentation and align with the club's brand values to enhance its global presence.
Matchday point of contact for ADI/IT supplier/broadcast partners. Assisting with technical requests/problem solving in a timely manner.
Perform matchday show floor manager duties.
Ensure all broadcasts comply with relevant regulations, including broadcasting standards, copyright laws, and EFL league rules.

Technical Operations

Supervise the technical setup and operation of all broadcast equipment, ensuring reliability and optimal performance at the stadium and training sites.
Troubleshoot and resolve any technical issues that arise during live broadcasts to minimise disruptions.
Stay updated on the latest broadcast technology trends and implement improvements to enhance broadcast quality and efficiency.

Video Content Production

Lead the execution of the club's video content strategy across all digital platforms, including social media, website, and OTT service.
Produce high-quality video content that promotes the club's brand, values, and key messages, including matchday highlights, behind-the-scenes footage, interviews, and promotional materials that appeals to a diverse audience and international markets.
Develop engaging video series and campaigns that enhance the content teams' output, enhances fan engagement and supports marketing and commercial objectives.
Oversee the scheduling and workflow of the videography team to ensure timely delivery of projects.
Explore new platforms and content types, such as VR/AR experiences, live streaming, and interactive videos, to enhance the fan experience.
Prepare regular reports on content performance and use insights to refine the video strategy and track return on investment (ROI).

Team Management

Lead and manage a team of broadcast and videography professionals, including freelancers and the club's broadcast and streaming partners (directors, producers, camera operators, sound engineers, and editors).
Provide training and development opportunities to ensure the team remains skilled in the latest broadcast techniques and technologies. Foster a working environment that encourages innovation and excellence.

Budget Management:

Develop and manage the broadcast department's budget, ensuring efficient use of resources.
Monitor expenditures and provide regular financial reports to senior management.
Identify cost-saving opportunities without compromising on broadcast quality.

What we're looking for in you

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in film production, Broadcast, Media Studies, or a related field.
Proven experience in broadcast production and video content creation, preferably within sports or live event environments.
Experience managing a team and leading complex production projects from concept to delivery.
Proven experience as a videographer, preferably in sports or a similar field. Experience working with football or sports teams is highly desirable.
Proficiency with video editing software (e.g., Adobe Premiere Pro, Final Cut Pro), and familiarity with graphic design and animation tools.
Extensive knowledge of professional video cameras, lighting, and audio equipment.
A strong portfolio demonstrating a range of video production skills and creativity.
Current Driving Licence

Creative storytelling skills with a keen eye for detail and a passion for producing engaging content.
Excellent leadership and project management abilities, with a track record of delivering high-quality content on time and within budget.
Strong understanding of digital and social media platforms, and how to tailor content for different audiences and channels.
