Overview

We are seeking an experienced and highly motivated Associate Compositor to join our advertising team and contribute to our continued growth and success. The Associate Compositor is an exciting role that demands strong technical abilities and creativity. They will work directly under a Mentor and Creative Directors to create high quality visual effects using both 2D and 3D techniques.



An Associate Compositor at Harbor works directly under a Lead Compositor to create high-end visual effects using both 2D and 3D techniques. A Lead Compositor will assign and critique their work, and above all provide mentorship to the Associate Compositor on a job-by-job basis. The Associate Compositor position is the foundation in a successful 2D career, where you will be expected to perform basic tasks like paint and roto, all the way up to combining 3D elements onto live action plates. As a result, they will have an in-depth understanding of how to technically and creatively realise the unique look and feel of a Harbor project and an invaluable understanding and knowledge of the technology, bespoke applications, workflow, methodologies and pipeline. An Associate Compositor needs to be highly efficient and organized in their technical and software abilities, while also being highly artistic and an excellent creative problem solver.


Responsibilities

Compositing live action plates, CG renders and a combination of both

Working collaboratively with other members of the Compositing team and other VFX departments and locations

Extracting mattes from blue/green screen photography using Keylight, Primatte or IBK

Intermediate 2D and 3D camera tracking

Intermediate photoreal CG integration into live action plates

Intermediate set extensions

Intermediate matte painting projections utilizing 3D cameras and geometry

Intermediate beauty work

Intermediate car augmentation

Intermediate photoreal full CG compositing

Paint and rotoscoping

Other duties as assigned


Qualifications

Essentials:

Experience in Compositing with Nuke for VFX projects

Excellent people skills

A strong creative eye

Strong problem-solving skills

Is a team player with a great attitude

Dependable and flexible

Takes direction well and exercises close attention to detail

Technical skills:

Solid understanding of roto techniques and best practices

Solid understanding of 2D and 3D tracking

Solid knowledge of CG rendering and compositing multi-channel EXRs

Experience with IBK, Primatte or Keylight

Knowledge of Nuke's 3D system

Knowledge of other VFX software such as Maya or Mocha is an advantage

Basic knowledge of Flame or Nuke studio is an advantage
