Assistant Stage Manager

London

We are recruiting 2 Assistant Stage Managers to join the Curious Incident Schools Tour.

Touring to schools is a key component of the National Theatre Learning programme. The NT firmly believes that all young people should have access to high-quality live theatre and this programme enables them to see it in their school.

Following a successful tour of Macbeth to UK secondary schools in 17/18 and a 12-week schools tour of The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time last autumn, we are embarking on a second tour of a specially-adapted version of Curious Incident.

The production will tour to secondary schools in areas of low arts engagement and to schools which have been identified as priority schools based on multiple indicators of deprivation. The production will visit schools in Doncaster, Hornchurch, London, Rochdale, Salford, Sunderland, Wakefield, Wigan and Wolverhampton.

The production will be 90-minutes long and will be performed by a team of 8 actors.

There will be a stage management team of five, made up of one Touring Production Manager, one Company Stage Manager, one Technical Stage Manager and two Assistant Stage Managers

We looking for candidates with experience of touring theatre in a similar role, an all-round technical background and a strong interest in touring productions to schools. For full tours dates, more information and to apply, please follow the link.

The successful applicant will be required to undertake a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) Enhanced Disclosure and appointment to this post is subject to the NT being in receipt of a satisfactory DBS Disclosure, under section 115 of the Police Act 1997.

Application Procedure

Please note that applications can only be considered if they are submitted through the National's Online Recruitment System, and returned by the closing date.

The closing date for the receipt of completed application forms is 12:00 noon, Wednesday 5th June, 2019

The anticipated date of first interviews is the week commencing 10th June 2019.

We want our workforce to be representative of all sections of society and welcome applications from everyone.

As users of the disability confident scheme, we guarantee to interview all disabled applicants who meet the essential criteria for our vacancies.
