Job Introduction
Do you want to be part of a small, dynamic team that's aiming to make a difference to the lives of young people and inspire them to challenge and change the world around them? The News Partnerships team will be looking for creative ways to engage 12-16 year olds with news and news issues and empower them to feel like their voice matters.

The team will deliver campaigns on issues like fake news, echo chambers and how things are shared and consumed online. We will also explain how young people can take charge of their futures by increasing their understanding of how different organisations approach story telling and truth.

Working with BBC Young Reporter the News Partnership also aims to give young people the tools to tell their own stories and provide a gateway to skills, training and future opportunities at the BBC. We'll help grow involvement in Young Reporter through schools and be part of the annual Young Reporter competition and Festival.

If you're passionate about young people, are full of creative ideas and want to connect with and inspire those who feel disengaged, unheard or misunderstood then we'd love to hear from you

Main Responsibilities
We're looking for two Assistant Producers to join this exciting project. You'll need to be creative, proactive and have a genuine passion for engaging with young people who feel like news, and the BBC, might not be for them. A thorough understanding of the platforms that are most popular with 12-16s is essential as well as the ability to come up with a constant stream of ideas. A thorough understanding of social media (particularly Instagram, YouTube and Tik Tok) and an ability to make and edit content for those platforms would be hugely beneficial, as would strong writing skills and a good editorial mind. Experience of news is not essential but a desire to make sense of complex subjects in fun, understandable and engaging ways is.

Are you the right candidate?
You'll be a strong all-rounder, ideally able to make and edit content for digital platforms as well as shoot and edit. You'll be full of ideas with a strong knowledge of the latest trends, issues and platforms in young people's lives. You'll have loads of ideas and enjoy connecting with other teams, groups and celebrity talent. A strong knowledge of, and interest in, social media would also be desirable. You'll need to prioritise between multiple projects, meet regular deadlines and be able to take direction and feedback from producers.

Please note: this role requires a relevant DBS check to be undertaken by the BBC at the appropriate level, at the point of offer of a contract of employment.
