We are looking for an enthusiastic and passionate Assistant Producer who is a self-starter bursting with ideas and ready to join this fast moving and exciting production. We want to be plugged into what people are talking about every day to make sure the programme is lively, relevant and having the right conversations. We are looking for this new member of the team to start as soon as possible.The Assistant Producer will help produce all elements of content for the programme. They must be full of ideas and have key production skills combined with the ability to work under pressure. They will be tasked with editing and publishing pictures and clips for broadcast, producing the news review, on screen graphics and putting callers on air. They must have a strong background in journalism and knowledge of media law.Responsibilities Produce the daily news review - which includes identifying stories for discussion, making graphics of the pages, briefing guests, commissioning pictures to illustrate the stories, identifying possible guests to chase and ensuring the review is legally compliant. Use Avid Newscutter to edit pictures and soundbites for the show. Produce on-air graphics which are read about by the co-presenter. Operate the phone box system which puts callers on air. Maintain knowledge and understanding of topical issues. Come up with ideas for phone-ins and production. Develop and maintain contacts. Think clearly and decisively, particularly when faced with unexpected problems and make rational decisions. Contribute to writing scripts when necessary. Ensure stories are accurate and comply with the law and relevant regulations. Deal professionally with members of the public and guests. Work in accordance with ITN guidelines on health and safety.This Job Description identifies the main requirements of the role. Previous experience in daily/topical shows is essential. Knowledge and experience of topical issues and current affairs. Ability to edit pictures using Avid Newscutter. The highest standards of accuracy and attention to detail around often complex and controversial material. Must be highly organised with the ability to prioritise workload efficiently and manage multiple projects. Adept at working independently - a self-starter, comfortable at being stretched. Excellent communication skills. Experience of legal situations and understanding of ITN Legal Compliance procedures. Good interpersonal skills, team player with personal authority. Calm under pressure with the ability to adapt and be flexible in task and role. Ability to work to tight deadlines. Ability to demonstrate our company values - Trust, Innovative and Collaborative.
