Assistant Editor

Newport

The Role

To work as part of the editing team at Horse & Country TV and be responsible for editing programmes, trails, VTs and short clips for broadcast on H&C TV and online at horseandcountry.tv, ingesting and managing media, producing on-screen graphics and QC programmes for compliance.

To work closely with the Channel Editor and the whole H&C team.
To deliver work on time and to the highest quality.

Key Responsibilities

1. Assist the Channel Editor and also the H&C web team, as required.

2. Creatively edit programmes, trails and VTs under the guidance of the Channel Editor and Head of
Programming.

3. Ingest and manage programme media in multiple formats.

4. QC programmes prior to broadcast.

5. Work within standard TV editorial guidelines and compliance.

4. Work as part of the H&C team maintaining positive working relationships and adhering to briefs
And completing all stages of production as required.

Required Skills and Experience

1. Knowledge of television production processes and evidence of creative editing.

2. Experience in and technical and editorial skill of FCP, Premiere, After Effects, Motion, and
Photoshop with knowledge of Encore, Compressor, Illustrator, Excel and Google Docs.

3. Experience of working with tape based and digital file media.

4. An understanding of SD and HD formats, compressions, frame rates, aspect ratios and field settings.

5. Good interpersonal and communication skills with colleagues, presenters and freelance staff inside
and outside of H&C.

6. Ability to work on multiple projects at one time.

7. Ability to cope with large volumes of programme material and prioritise work as circumstances
change.

8. Very organised and able to work to a high standard and fast turnaround.

9. Ideally a knowledge of and passion for horse riding.
