Job IntroductionBlue Peter, BBC Children's longest running programme and flagship brand, is seeking to appoint an experienced Assistant Content Producer to join our production team in its 60th year. Blue Peter has been engaging with the audience through presenter challenges, entertaining guests and creative ideas in ways that are funny, exciting, gripping, thrilling, unusual, bold, imaginative and impressive for 6 decades. We want to continue to encourage and inspire our audience to join in, contact us and earn their badges.We are looking for an Assistant Content Producer to join the Blue Peter team from Monday 3rd September for a 3 month contract. Please note you must be available to start on Monday 3rd September. If you are currently under contract on that date, please get permission to apply from your Line Manager. Main ResponsibilitiesTo be a successful Assistant Content Producer on Blue Peter, you'll be able to come up with factual entertainment ideas, developing and pitching features on a weekly basis and creating items that are interactive, innovative, entertaining and informative, in addition to generating interactive ideas for planned studio items.You will have the opportunity to continue to develop a broad set of digital skills within a team that encourages innovation and is looking to push the boundaries, pioneering more integrated ways of working across different media. BBC Children's forward-looking approach marries the best of linear programming with highly engaging multi-media interactivity, which means you'll be working at the cutting edge of the media industry.Are you the right candidate?We are looking for a talented individual who is able to generate compelling content ideas, which are feasible and consistent with editorial intentions. You should be able to demonstrate a great understanding of the interests and passions of modern British children, as well of the changing trends of how they consume those interests through mobile, tablet, desktop and TV platforms.You'll have proven experience in writing creative copy as well as a sound working knowledge of the Internet, social media, video production, multimedia production processes and software.Additionally, you'll have proven self-shooting and editing skills (Premier Pro), PhotoShop knowledge and experience of stills photography is desirable.
