BBC Bristol is the home of two BBC Studios Television Units, Bristol Factual Entertainment and the Natural History Unit, producing world-renowned content from Antiques Roadshow to Prehistoric Planet. These departments are supported internally by the BBC Studios Bristol Archives team who assist with archive requests, promote sound media management practices and back up production media.We need an Archive Assistant to join the team. We're looking for someone who has a genuine interest in our output and a passion for the technical requirements that come with TV Production. You don't necessarily need to have worked as an archivist before as we'll provide training alongside our current team. Moreover, you'll have a mentor to help you develop within the role.Role ResponsibilityThe Archive Assistant will provide support to all production teams at BBC Studios Bristol. They help with media management, secure back up and retrieval of camera files.They maintain logs and tracking information for the rest of the team to refer to. They build and maintain good relationships with production teams and external clients. They will work with the wider BBC Studios team in a flexible and collaborative manner.The Ideal CandidateWe are looking for candidates with the following skills/attributes:You will have an interest in technology and be able to demonstrate a passion for television and video production.You can look after large amounts of data securely.You are methodical and like to keep your files tidy and organised.You are a good communicator who enjoys working as part of a team.You have an eye for detail and enjoy following predefined processes and workflows.You are happy to reassess your priorities and adapt to fast changing circumstances.You enjoy solving technical issues and can share clear detailed information where appropriate.You are friendly, easy to get on with and enjoy working with people from different backgrounds.You enjoy learning new software and using your initiative to streamline processes.Job specific responsibilities and accountabilities (training will be provided):Overseeing, administering and maintaining BBC Studios Bristol Archives resources.Maintaining accurate and up to technical logs, administrative documents and tracking information.Ingesting archive content into cloud based systems and delivering collections electronically.Maintaining archive collections in a tidy and consistent manner.
