3D Generalist

London/Hybrid

We're looking for a skilled and adaptable 3D Generalist to join the Blue Zoo Digital team to bring one of our brands to life in an upcoming 3D mobile game.

As our 3D Generalist, you'll take ownership of modelling, rigging, animating, and preparing assets for use in Unity. You'll work closely with a small, creative team to craft playable characters, environments, and props that are not just visually engaging, but that helps define how the game feels to play.

This is a hands-on, creative role ideal for someone with a solid foundation in 3D production and a love of stylised, character-driven work.

We are very happy to discuss flexible, hybrid and remote working options for all our vacancies.

Day to Day:
Take full ownership of 3D asset creation, optimised for mobile - including modeling, texturing, rigging, and animating - and exporting characters, props, and environments for use in-game
Create compelling, on-brand 3D character animations in Blender or Maya, optimised for real-time use in game engines like Unity or Unreal
Work closely with the production team, collaborating with developers to ensure that assets are not only high-quality, but also function well in gameplay
Ensure the work clearly communicates character, gameplay intention, and visual style throughout each stage of development
Actively participate in creative discussions and team brainstorms, contributing ideas and helping shape the visual storytelling and player experience
Communicate with the Team Lead to meet milestones and delivery timelines for builds, demos, and release
Manage time efficiently to meet asset deadlines, bug fixes, and feedback rounds
Contribute to a positive, collaborative, and fun work environment
Maintain a collaborative, flexible, and positive attitude, adapting to the needs of a dynamic game production environment
Take on and apply feedback constructively, iterating quickly based on notes from leads or playtesting results

About You
Must Have:
Strong proficiency in Blender or Maya, with solid understanding of animation principles, timing, and character acting
Familiarity with the full 3D game asset pipeline, from initial modelling and rigging to final in-engine animation and testing
Proven ability to model, rig, texture, and animate assets for real-time use - across characters, props, and environments
Openness to explore other animation technology and learning game engines like Unity or Unreal (including importing, testing, and iterating assets in-engine)
Ability to take feedback constructively and iterate quickly
Excellent time management and self-organisation skills, able to deliver on tight schedules and shifting priorities
Strong team communication and collaboration skills - a reliable team player

Bonus Points:
Experience importing and working with animations inside Unity - e.g. using Animator Controllers, blend trees, or testing in engine
Previous experience working on a game project, especially one involving character animation and gameplay interaction
Familiarity with real-time workflows, optimisation techniques, and how to make assets game-ready
Comfortable troubleshooting basic Unity scene setup, prefabs, or animation testing
A love of quirky, stylised, or character-led projects - if you've worked on something weird and wonderful, we want to see it!
