Digital Transmission Controller

London

Famous global market-leading communications company with a media and broadcast department that works with nearly all the leading broadcasters in the UK. This is a truly international client, with operations in over 180 countries. This expanding department is looking for an experienced Transmission Controller to join their team.

Purpose
To monitor and maintain the technical presentation and quality of output of all digital channels from the client's Media and Broadcast facility, in accordance with schedules and business requirements.

Key Accountabilities and ActivitiesEnsure a high quality, well presented error free transmission service for all digital services.
Must have a high level of understanding and operational expertise using Morpheus & ICE Automation.
Prepare, load, check and where necessary edit playlists for Leeds digital channels.
Editorial Control of Channels - Trigger live programmes and breaks..
Monitor playout including video, audio, subtitles, audio description
Understand BARCO monitoring wall Layout and Transmission Path schematic.
Monitor platform outputs - DTT & DSAT. Liaising with Arqiva, BT and other 3rd parties when faults occur.
Liaise with Ingest, Scheduling, Sales and Creative to arrange delivery of missing and late delivery material.
Ensure that Material is available on Transmission ICE Servers prior to Transmission.
Understand Media Management Workflows.
React to system faults. Use BNCS switching to resilient back up paths when breakdowns and equipment failures occur. Escalate technical issues to System Engineers.
Validate commercial transmissions and be aware of OFCOM / COSTA regulations and clock hour issues. Escalate to DMO where appropriate.
Ensure output fulfils contractual SLAs.
Be aware of MSTOP procedures for incident and problem management.
Report outages by text alert and if necessary Technical Bridge.
Train and develop other staff to assist in transmission operations.
Assist in the development of system infrastructure and working practices to improve the resilience and operation of transmission systems.

Observe all aspects of Health and Safety Policy and keep up to date with Security and Emergency procedures.

Service DeliveryEnsure that you understand Client and other Department's needs, take responsibility for action and deliver a high quality professional service.
Be aware of SLA's and levels of KPI's.
Identify issues that may prevent excellent service delivery and either resolve them or escalate to supervisors and managers.
Build good relationships with clients by being proactive and professional when dealing with queries and other issues.
Understand the departmental and business implications of failing to deliver excellent service to a client.
Work with your line manager and other members of your team to improve service delivery.
