DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

Channel 4 Streaming is the OTT channel for C4, home to exclusive shows, box sets of iconic series, as well as live and catch up TV from the broadcast channels.

The brand has a presence across a range of owned-and-operated platforms (e.g. web, iOS, Xbox, Samsung) and 3rd party platforms (e.g. Sky, Virgin). The Streaming Channel Planning team sits within the wider Commissioning Department.

JOB PURPOSE

The primary function of the Content Planner role is to ensure the effective selection and planning of content for Channel 4 Streaming on a day to day basis using a variety of bespoke content management systems, ensuring all plans are delivered in an accurate and timely manner.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Support the Channel Manager and Streaming Scheduler on a day to day basis with primary responsibility for:
Scheduling of content in an accurate and timely fashion across linear Catch Up, Streaming Exclusives, Upfront Box Sets and Archive.
Management of Content Planning Items (CPIs) in the Content Planning System making sure content availability windows are correct across all platforms and making amendments as required.
Working with the Rights and Compliance teams to update availability windows on an ongoing basis.
Ensuring editorial sign off of CPIs.
Using appropriate reports and database management tools (e.g. Excel) to identify missing content items and subsequently make the appropriate selections.
Liaising with Operations to ensure effective delivery of content to platforms and the prevention of bottlenecks of content delivery.
Responding to content availability enquiries from within the wider business and reacting appropriately.
Troubleshoot content availability with relevant operational teams.

Understanding of new trends in media consumption and development of the VOD market desirable.
