PB is always advertising the advantages of showfolio. Well, I have showfolio. I also suggested, more than once, that PB members should go for it. Actually, showfolio is the reason why I joined PB. I have no British credits, although I have worked here in London for two of the three biggest Broadcasters in the planet... Showfolio certainly helped me to get work, through PB and through employers not related to PB. Employers who believe in life beyond BC...
Until now, if I wanted to show samples of my work to employers all I needed to do was either send a link to them or ask them to search Umberto Aguiar in google. During more than a year my PB Showfolio- camera operator site was right at the top of the page. Since this past weekend, somehow, it disappeared from there.
I contacted PB , explained what happened, and was told that they would fix it.
Today I found out that my PB showfolio site is back in the page, but it's the 7th or 8th site now. I opened it and,
much to my horror, there is no biography, no information about me, just videos and the first video on display is a short clip I did for Christmas that I deleted from my portfolio long ago!
We are in august. So, an employer checks my PB showfolio in google and see a Merry Christmas video there?
Google would certainly be responsible for part of this mess but not all of it. I can't see how Google could be responsible for my site's content, for example. In any case, right now what really matters is that I can use my showfolio in a more efficient way and am asking you, PB, to help me there, please.
It would be really good if my PB showfolio site could go back to the top of the page. The first sites in the page are related to me , anyway, so I wouldn't be displacing anyone. I'm sure this can be done. The second change would be to replace my PB showfolio in google for the right one, that appears in my link. My PB showfolio that is in google now, as I said, has no biography, no information, just videos. The main video being a Merry Christmas greeting...
If I contact Google it will be just me. If PB does it will be a company that represents 5000 professionals from the Broadcast industry. Who have more chances of being listened to?
I had problems with showfolio before. I uploaded a new video about classical music but it had wind chimes sound ( very common in youtube, I found out later ) added to it, thanks to PB's encoding. PB fixed it, after a week, and refunded me a week of membership. But, during that week I lost the chance to show this new video to an employer who advertised in PB looking for someone to do videos about classical music...
I have MacBook Pro 3.06 GHz, 7200 rpm and a good internet. Despite of that, I can't play my HD videos in Showfolio in high quality, much less HD mode.
My Showfolio videos play with reasonably good quality even in low quality mode. That is , if you don't watch them on full screen. But I uploaded a video, that I have in my showfolio, to another site. It does play with better quality there, although it is a free site. I am using this example because it's clear to me that showfolio could be better than it is.

Thank you for letting us know about this issue.
When our members take out a Showfolio package, your ShowFolio URL is automatically indexed in search engines like Google. Likewise, Watercooler posts are also handled in the same way.
Members who wish “not” to be found can request this via their profile settings. Google is the owner of this information and once a request is submitted to remove a URL, the amount of time it takes to action can vary, but it should rarely exceed 14 days.
If a Showfolio gets removed by a search engine it will be for one of two reasons.
1. The member has chosen to hide their profile from searches (via their profile settings)
2. Something has happened with Google which has removed their url.
In this instance what we can do is request that the URL is re-indexed, which we have for you Umberto. We are currently investigating why URLS are removed without a request being made, but as you can imagine the quantity of data crawled is vast and I can only imagine that these anomalies happen from time to time. Unfortunately Google is a faceless corporation so I’m struggling to get an answer as to why this has happened.
The best advice we can give is to share your external ShowFolio link with everyone to avoid people having to find you via Google until this is re-indexed.

Hi, PB. Many thanks for your help. It's just so frustrating this whole situation. It's going on for almost two weeks. If I search UMBERTO AGUIAR in google the page that appears has about ten sites related to me. Showfolio Umberto Aguiar- camera operator was the very first site, right at the top, for over a year. Now, somehow it's the seventh site and it has only videos, the main one being a Merry Christmas greetings that I deleted in january. The link, strange enough, is working fine and doesn't match with my Showfolio site in google. But many times it's not an option to send a link to employers. www.pbshowfolio.com/profile/umbertoaguiar is just too long and it doesn't fit in my business card. I met prospective employers whilst I was working, for example, and handed them my card, asking them to search my name in google because I was right at the top of the page. It was an important option that I don't have anymore. I know about faceless corporations. I am trying to get rid of my Saatchi site that now is the first site in the page . So it happens that the video there has youtube encoding quality. It's really rubbish. I didn't mind before because that site was down in the page. It has been a google nightmare for me this past weeks. I hope this story will have a happy ending. I like happy endings.
