The primary function of writers/producers for CNN International is to support the CNNI programmes as either a writer or a producer. They will be expected to cover writing and producing shifts equally. As a writer they prepare scripts for general and business news stories. The scripts are based on research of wire service reports and information gathered by business and news desks and by journalists in the field. In the Producer capacity they will determine which stories will be presented in a newscast and how those stories will be presented. The producer must coordinate the efforts of the writers and PA's who assist in the programme production. The producer interacts with directors and sound technicians in the control room. Responsibilities include: Writers research assigned stories to determine the facts of the story. They also view video clips, vo's, sots and packages to make sure their scripts match the material. Preparing scripts. Preparing fonts: The writer is also responsible for making sure we provide contract courtesies for video provided by news agencies. The producer must know and understand all of the daily stories and what treatments the stories deserve in a particular programme. The producer must a build a "rundown" which is the guide for the programme. The producer must then execute the rundown in the control room as it is broadcast live. The producer must also be prepared to change the running order at a moment's notice if the news changes or in case of technical problems. Candidates must have some experience in broadcast journalism, as a writer and a producer. A good understanding of global news. Languages and some experience of working in a control room would be advantageous. Candidates must be able to demonstrate: Awareness of global news and business news; Ability to absorb and work through complex material quickly; Good communication skills; Understanding of TV production; Works well in a team and good leadership & coaching skills; Ideas generation; Ability to multi-task; Flexible especially in breaking news situation.
