Working with a team of producers and reporting to the Editor, you will initially work for the Development Team, although you will be expected to be able to rotate to work on the other main production team (Multimedia Team). Shift work may be required which could include nights, weekends and public holidays. This role is offered on a 9 month Attachment/Fixed Term Contract basis.BBC World Service is part of the Global News Division which operates in a competitive multi-media market, creating and delivering content to a weekly audience of 238 million.RoleWorking as a member of a team which is producing a stream of multi-media English Language Teaching (ELT) materials, you will write series outlines, scripts and online content. This will involve researching, adapting from other media, originating, editing, and versioning text based materials. You will ensure that any programme material for which the post holder is responsible is strongly audience and learner focused, and meets the standards required by the BBC. You will liaise closely with other team members and with contributors, Language Services, and with other programme teams across World Service and the BBC, advising other parts of the BBC on English Language Teaching issues and target audiences. As well as this, you will develop and maintain good working relationships with, media partner and external bodies such as educational institutions, newspaper groups and publishers, essential to the delivery of key projects. RequirementsYou will have an excellent knowledge of English language, including complete comprehension of written and spoken English, and first class communication skills. Good interpersonal skills, and in particular the ability to work collaboratively within a team and to motivate others is essential. You will also have some significant, recent and relevant experience as a materials writer, preferably in an educational publishing environment. Alongside this, a recognised EFL (English as a Foreign Language) qualification (such as RSA or Trinity) and significant experience of TEFL (Teaching English as a Foreign Language) or other educational activities, preferably in an international context is required. Knowledge of the Brazilian ELT market as well previous experience of sub-editing would be advantageous.
