PLEASE DO NOT APPLY IF YOUR SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE DO NOT MEET THE CRITERIA AS YOUR APPLICATION WILL NOT BE CONSIDEREDThe RoleThe primary role of the post is to work within and ensure the safe and efficient working of the performance areas of Harrogate Theatre and to assist in the delivery of performances.Duties and Responsibilities• To work on shows as scheduled on stage, primarily operating lighting and sound equipment but also stage equipment as requested by the Technical Manager.• To ensure that all incoming companies and crews are fully aware of the fire procedure and other emergency procedures within the building and that their full compliance is observed.• To work with the Technical Manger to ensure all lifting equipment, stage equipment and machinery are in good and safe working order.• To ensure the correct and safe usage of all lifting and stage machinery, lighting and sound equipment at all times.• To inform the Technical Manager of any defect or fault that occurs with any of the stage equipment, lighting or sound equipment and ensure the correct action is taken as soon as possible.• To assist the Technical Manager in ensuring that all Health & Safety legislation relating to the stage and its equipment is observed and that all staff working in the area are aware of all requirements and safety procedures.• To carry out an ongoing programme of risk assessment for incoming companies, copies of which are to be passed to the Production Manager.• To ensure show reports are completed by all visiting companies and copies emailed to senior management.• To ensure high standards of housekeeping are maintained in all working areas on and around the stage & studio.• Working with the Technical Manager to ensure that the correct equipment is prepared and supplied for incoming and in house productions, as requested, within schedules provided. • To be responsible for the safe and efficient running of all get-ins, fit ups and get-outs in conjunction with the Technical Manger and Theatre Technicians. • To take responsibility for developing and improving skills in the correct and efficient operation of all equipment maintained by the Production Department, and to inform the Technical Manager of any requirements for further training, necessary equipment or assistance. • To undertake Lock-up duties as required, and act as Duty Manager if so requested by the Theatre or Technical Manager.• To undertake any duties as may be reasonably required by the Technical Manager or Theatre Management.The Theatre Technician should be well organised with proven knowledge of working systems and practices within the theatre. The post holder should be physically fit and capable of meeting the requirements of a physically demanding job with long hours and a high proportion of manual handling and practical work.EssentialThe successful candidate will have:• Knowledge and experience of all aspects of technical production including lighting, sound and stage .• Experience of operating lighting and sound equipment.• Proven experience in a similar position in producing and receiving theatre. • An ability to communicate clearly and effectively.• A willingness to accept delegated responsibility and to both give and follow instruction where appropriate.• Knowledge of relevant H&S codes of practice and legislation associated with the industry.• Self motivation and willingness to work within a team based environment. DesirableFurther to these essentials, a candidate is likely to have the following attributes• Basic Carpentry skills• First Aid certificate (or willingness to take training)• Computer Literate• Ability to read plans• Full, clean driving license
