An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Technician responsible for Data Management within the School of Film and Television. Recent capital investment has allowed the School to move forward to embrace workflows and image capture/output at up to 4K resolution. We are looking for a new team member to become a cornerstone in assisting with and implementing these new workflows. Central to the role will be the administration and configuration of an Avid ISIS shared media server.The ideal candidate will have in depth knowledge and experience in network administration and configuration in Linux, Windows and Mac OSX environments. You will also have experience of storage technologies and network filesystems alongside a good general networking knowledge. Ability and experience in using relevant specialist software such as Avid Media Composer, Adobe Creative Suite and Final Cut Pro 7/X, would be an advantage, as would experience of archive/back up of tapeless media, digitising rushes and transcoding and conforming.You will provide a professional level of technical instruction, curriculum support, demonstration and supervision for the technical facilities, equipment and/or processes for all of the subjects of the School. This includes the set-up, maintenance and supply of resources and equipment, and the provision of technical assistance, advice and instruction to all stakeholders, including students, academic staff, and external customers.The closing date for this position is Wednesday 19 March 2014.
