With over 350 hours of in-house output a year, BBC Drama Production is making some of the most original, diverse and highly acclaimed television. These range from continuing drama such as Holby City, Casualty, EastEnders and Doctors, to series and serials such as Silent Witness, Luther and Five Daughters and Silk to name just a few. RoleReporting to the Script Producer you'll work as part of a team overseeing episodes from idea stage to delivery to the production crew and through to shoot. This process involves managing the Consultant Series Producer's, the Senior Producer's, the Story Department's, and the Producer's scheduling notes - but above all you yourself taking the confident and authoritative lead, dependent on the experience of your individual writers, in doing forensic, one-to-one draft turnarounds where you will need to have the ability to independently generate detailed fixes and suggestions both creative and structural - as well, if need be, as tuning the writer into the tone, ambition, characters and vision of HOLBY CITY in 2012. Generating creative ideas as well as long term story ideas, you'll work with the production teams representing the writers' interests, ensuring their consent to script changes as well as ensuring the scripts are editorially correct. In addition, you will help the Script Producer identify and encourage new and emerging writing talent whom you want to bring to the show, nurture and work with.Does this sound like you? You'll be restructuring and generating new storylines within your script as well as turning around creative drafts in short spaces of time. RequirementsPeople working Holby City are a talented, experienced and creative bunch. To join them and make this programme the most talked about on the channel, it's really important you have the necessary skills we're looking for below. • Substantial experience of script editing ideally on a continuing TV drama series• bags of creative ideas• experience of working with new and experienced writers under pressure and to tight deadlines • strong communication, negotiation, influencing and persuading skills • the ability to work within a team and on your own initiative• an understanding of the copyright law, Writers Guild agreements, contracts and the legal implications for production processes.
