Role
6 month fixed term contract/attachment

The main focus of this position will be to take a dynamic role in this challenging project which involves working as part of a team to update and enhance Bitesize's images and infographics in time for relaunch in Summer 2012.


You will ensure all content is of a first class standard: thoroughly researched and accurate, aligning with audience needs and expectations and in line with the departmental ambition of inspiring a life full of learning. You will also assist in the planning, production and maintenance of brilliant new illustrations and infographics for delivery online and on mobile platforms. You'll undertake research into developments in the formal education sector e.g. National Curriculum, and be responsible for rewriting/re-versioning content to make it fit for purpose.


Researchers in BBC Learning are expected to help originate and produce excellent content and/or events by contributing first class research effort as well as prioritising and organising information that will enable us to fulfil the departmental vision to inspire a life full of learning for all our audiences.
It is important you work effectively with colleagues elsewhere in the department and have a solid understanding of all content created by BBC Learning.

You will:

· Collaborate with colleagues, stakeholders and other teams to ensure that by working together we achieve the best possible results.

· Fully engage with the department's development process to ensure a constant flow of fresh, innovative ideas that will inspire our audiences.

· Ensure all content meets the needs of the K&L product.

· Ensure copyrights & contracts comply with BBC requirements.

· Carry out coding in HTML and XML - including in a content management system.

· Tag content using effective metadata.

Requirements

Apart from an interest in or knowledge of the formal education sector for 5-19 year olds and in the educative needs of Bitesize's target audience, you will have some experience of interactive production and delivery, and an understanding of the processes involved in interactive design.
Exceptional web literacy and an understanding of search engine optimisation principles and practice is essential, as is a working knowledge of one or more of the following technologies: HTML, Flash basics, and Photoshop skills.

You will have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and experience of working in muliti-disciplinary teams, together with good planning and organising skills and an appreciation of BBC Learning's different audiences and their learning needs. An understanding of BBC editorial guidelines and other compliance policies will also be required.
