The role has two primary aims:• The creation of compelling and audience oriented schedules from the wide range of programming on offer, and• Taking responsibility for the delivery of accurate scheduling on all programming, promos, ads and other elements for transmission. Specific responsibilities include: • Keep a detailed and up to date knowledge of the available content library as well as monitoring programme runs in order to plan the licensing window. • Develop an excellent understanding of the channel's programming and promotions to ensure creativity in line with brand positioning. • Develop an excellent understanding of the channel's audience. • Work with Ad sales to ensure timely delivery of commercial elements e.g. spots, sponsorship, etc. • View content before transmission to ensure accuracy.• Work with channel playout on the delivery of daily schedules, dealing with updates or errors.• Supply transmission schedules to other departments. • Monitor daily output for accuracy and competitor channels to keep abreast of the industry. • Generate pre-air reporting as required by deadlines (e.g. for BSkyB EPG or web)• Take delivery of post-air as-runs and generate reports as required. • Compliance checking and QCing. Candidate Profile:To succeed in this role, you will first and foremost need solid experience as a Programme Scheduler within an international broadcaster - experience of programme scheduling on a mixed genre channel would be highly beneficial.Additionally, you will have:• Knowledge of Compliance and Ofcom guidelines.• Knowledge of Programme delivery specs and formats.• An excellent grasp of scheduling systems and processes and the proven ability to maintain accuracy within tight deadlines.• Experience scheduling commercial breaks, secondary events and all other presentation items.• Excellent grasp of the global television industry.• Open-minded with cross-cultural sensitivities. • Ideally you will be genuinely interested in Africa and its culture. • Excellent administration and organisational skills with superb attention to detail.• Computer literacy with relevant applications.Please note that those with only Presentation Scheduling experience will unfortunately be unsuitable for this role.When applying, please ensure your covering letter clearly explains:• Your relevant programming and scheduling experience • Your interest in working specifically within African content • Your salary expectations• Your notice periodPlease only apply if you already have the right to work in the UK.
