Department Overview

Discovery Networks International Factual Production & Development team, develop and produce original factual and specialist factual programming for Discovery's portfolio of channels, including Discovery Channel - which reaches 445 million households in more than 220 countries and territories around the globe.

Overall Purpose of the Role

We are looking for a talented, driven, hardworking individual, with a passion for Factual and Factual Entertainment programming to support the departments Executive Producers in the development and production of original content for the Discovery portfolio. This is an exciting opportunity to gain programme making experience and learn how a broadcaster operates, through training, internal work shadowing and external production company placements.

Key Responsibilities
Support the departments Executive Producers in the production and development of original programming
Development updates and weekly bulletins to include gathering intelligence on what's hot and what's not in the industry, as well as keeping across news stories and social media to identify possible new talent and programme ideas.
Manage screening rooms and the creation of presentation reels, clips and programme footage.
Act as admin support for P&D
Develop and maintain relationships with key stakeholders throughout the business as a point of contact for any internal production requests.
Attend creative brainstorms with external producers
Support the team at Sheffield Documentary Festival

Desirable Skills/Experience Required
A genuine interest in Factual Television.
Pro-active can-do attitude.
Team player
Technically minded with a working knowledge of cameras and edit systems and presentation packages (such as Keynote and PPT) would be advantageous

Desired study subjects include; Science, Engineering, and Humanities, but more important is a demonstrable passion for Factual Television, knowledge of current programmes and a proven interest in pursuing a career in television production.
