Purpose of the Role:The Producer makes sure that television shows run smoothly in all details. The Producer can be in charge of everything from the program's inception to post-production. Producers have a wide range of responsibility which includes scheduling, budget, talent management and creative control.Duties:The successful candidate would create and execute compelling programming in theAt The Races program schedule. To achieve this, the candidate would be expectedto carry out the following duties.• Compile running order for all programmes• Liaise and consult with Presenters with regards to content so that they understand the aims and directions of the program• Liaise with Technical Supervisors and Crew regarding technical aspects of the programmes.• Liaise with Gallery staff regarding content of program.• Inform and delegate to Assistant Producers as to what is required for the day's output. Work with Editors on specific requirements. • Direct and cue all gallery staff members during broadcast.• Make sure program content is Ofcom compliant• Liaise with OB's regarding coverage • Oversee production of live broadcast• Plan and execute content for all programmes• To actively help with the planning and development of programming schedules with ideas for program strands and features. • Carry out evaluations and appraisals of gallery staff where appropriateRequired Skills & Experience:• Previous Producer experience for a major Television Company preferably in a Live Output environment• Practical knowledge of financial, legal and regulatory requirements• Understand programme markets and world wide audience dynamics, as well as the requirements of individual broadcasters' audiences, and in some cases, individual commissioners' preferences• Must be able to prioritise effectively across a number of projects, managing their time and resources according to each production's requirements, and, where appropriate, delegating work to suitably qualified personnel• Current knowledge of the relevant legislation, regulations, and associated procedures, including Copyright, Data Protection, Public Liability, etc. and how to comply with regulatory requirements.• As a supervisor and enabler of creative people, they are expected to be able to plan, inspire, supervise and delegate• Knowledge of how to: • Prepare a budget for the production • Secure financial resources for the production • Control the overall planning of the production • Ensure compliance with regulations and codes of practice• Select crews and suppliers to meet production requirements• Identify and select supporting artistes and contributors• Control production expenditure • Monitor and control the progress of productions • Supervise the edit of a completed production• An interest in Horse Racing / Sports BroadcastingPlease note this role will require the post holder to work a shift pattern.
