A Previewer is required on a freelance basis at Discovery Networks to prepare scheduled program material for On-Air. This is a freelance role offering 16 hours of work a week. It requires liaising with internal and external departments to guarantee material lives up to broadcast standard and is delivered within set deadlines. Various duties include setting break points for commercial inventory, QC approval and ensuring appropriate parental rating certification has been applied, all in accordance with Discovery guidelines. It involves extensive work in the MAM system VPMS and scheduling system What's On.Main responsibilities:• Liaise with Material, Ingest and Compliance teams to ensure all scheduled programs are ingested and live up to set broadcasting standards.• Final approve QC, preview and cutlist(soft parting) material including setting break points to maximize viewer retention whilst accommodating break structures required for commercial inventory optimization.• Importing edit and break point data to What's On for Scheduler and Continuity, incl. time codes, audio configuration, aspect ratio, end credit time codes and special remarks.• Liaising with Schedulers and Programme Planners and adhere to their requests of edited break points for an optimised commercial inventory while guaranteeing an optimal viewing experience.• Approve allocated parental rating certification to ensure compliance with OfCom or other relevant broadcast regulator.• Liaising with Presentation schedulers regarding late deliveries and program changes.• Assist with adhoc file restore requests from territory.• Screen content for suitable placement of Secondary events.• Troubleshoot and communicate any issues with workflows and systems to Leads and/or Supervisors.• Test and review new software development, upgrades and workflows as required by management.• Assist and support other teams and management within the programming department with various ad-hoc tasks as needed.Requirements:• Previous experience of previewing, QC or editorial role within the TV Broadcast industry.• Good knowledge of television processes and terminology is preferred, but candidates with exceptional attitude and experiences considered to be equivalent or sufficient may be considered on an entry level.• Good understanding of broadcast scheduling and MAM systems.• Knowledge of video editing software is an advantage but not a must.• Computer literate with basic knowledge of the Microsoft office package.• Good knowledge of Ofcom regulations (or equivalent local regulator) is a must.• Excellent communication skills.• Enthusiastic and self-motivated.• Great attention to details and ability to work to deadlines.• Ability to work independently as well as part of a team.• Scandinavian language skills are an advantage but not a must. This role would be ideal for a freelancer who is looking for additional work to supplement existing client commitments.
