Platform Editor

London

All 4 is Channel 4's OTT channel, home to original and exclusive shows, box sets of iconic series, as well as watch live and catch up from the broadcast channels.

The brand has a presence across a range of owned-and-operated (web, iOS, Xbox, Samsung), not-owned-but-operated (Facebook, YouTube) and syndicated (Sky, Virgin) platforms.

The All 4 team sits within the Commissioning Department, reporting to the Chief Creative Officer.

JOB PURPOSE
The Platform Editor is a member of the team responsible for bringing All 4 and its sub-brands (e.g. Walter Presents) to life across all owned-and-operated channels, with a view to maximising video consumption and establishing All 4 as a destination of choice for UK audiences.

Each Platform Editor will be tasked with becoming an expert in a particular platform group (web, mobile, big screen), although he or she will be expected to work across all. They will also be tasked with owning specific collections, working alongside All 4 Commissioning Editors.

The role reports to the Daily Editor for All 4.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

o Take personal responsibility for maximising day-to-day, hour-by-hour viewing on All 4, in line with the priorities laid out by the Daily Editor.
o Realise the All 4 tone-of-voice through intelligent curation and copy-writing.
o Manage the deployment of editorial promotion throughout All 4, including homepage planning and the creation of brand and collection hubs.
o Offer proficiency in a particular platform group (web, mobile, big screen), being able to consider and reflect the different contexts in which All 4 is experienced.
o Identify opportunities to reflect topical events and current affairs through on-site curation, ensuring All 4 becomes seen as a living-breathing channel.
o Devise new approaches to drive video consumption (e.g. creation of text/image-based articles for deployment across All 4).
o Work with the Picture Editors for All 4 to routinely review and optimise on-platform editorial and identify best practice in platform editing from a broad range of comparable services.
o Support the Commissioning Editors for All 4 Collections in realising new collections and brands through copy and design.
o Work with VRM to deliver and optimise direct-viewer comms (e.g. email, mobile messaging)
o Use audience data to continually optimise the editorial offering across all channels.
o Demonstrate a passion for telly and recognise the appeal of a wide variety of programming to different audiences.
o Input into the product development of owned-and-operated channels and feed into development of both CMS and front-end products.
o Play an active role in building a collaborative and generous culture.

ESSENTIAL EXPERIENCE

• Demonstrable experience in content creation
• Demonstrable experience in, or significant exposure to, brand creation and on-going management
• Demonstrable experience in copy-writing and web/app editing
• Demonstrable experience in the sophisticated use of audience data
