MULTI-SKILLED LIGHTING DIRECTOR

JOB PURPOSE:
- To produce and maintain the highest possible studio picture quality for both ITV News and C4 News output.
- To set and control the lights and operate the remote cameras for all ITV News and C4 News programmes.
- To be multi-skilled in all basic studio operation functions in order to assist in getting a newsflash on air.

KEY TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Live operation of lighting consoles and remote control cameras within ITV News and C4 News studios
- Vision control and colour balance of cameras and in-vision sources
- Operation of Ultimattes in VR studio
- Establish lighting plots within budget provided
- Maintenance, rigging and setting of studio lighting
- Liaison with studio director and TDs
- First line technical support and technical operation in studios
- Light all additional extra programme requirements and recordings on a daily basis
- Understand the needs and requirements of presenters and guests
- Operate within ITN's health and safety policy
- Will monitor studio picture quality for all output

KEY ATTRIBUTES/QUALIFICATIONS:
- Ability to operate in a stressful live studio environment
- Accurate assessment of picture quality and colour balance
- A good sense of composition of camera shots
- A wide knowledge of studio and broadcast engineering
- An in-depth knowledge of studio and outside lighting techniques
- A basic knowledge of all studio and gallery functions
