MULTI-SKILLED CAMERA TECHNICIAN:

Channel 5 News is looking for a fully multi-skilled technician capable of operating a variety of studio cameras to shoot presenters and guests within a news environment under the direction of the Programme Director.Must possess the ability to creatively shoot ENG pieces, alongside Channel 5 News reporters. Must also provide technical and artistic support to the newsroom team in respect of cameras and related equipment.

KEY TASKS/RESPONSIBILITIES:
- To work in the 5News Studio using Ped cameras and, in particular, the Jib camera.
- To be able to operate the cameras under the direction of the Programme Director over talkback to move, tilt, zoom, pan and focus.
- To support the newsroom with any technical issues offering solutions, assisting workflows.
- To offer artistic guidance to enhance the channel's output.
- Responsibility for the day to day management of the camera kit (In association with existing ITN support staff).

KEY ATTRIBUTES/QUALIFICATIONS:
- A flexible approach with the ability to multi-task with good camera skills and with sound news judgement being a distinct advantage.
- Ability to 'troubleshoot' technical problems in the newsroom.
- Willing to learn new workflows and procedures.
- A self-motivated member of staff with confidence to operate unsupervised and using his/her own initiative
- Good knowledge of Ofcom regulations and the ITN compliance manual
- Awareness of health and safety responsibilities
- An understanding of the importance of good care and regular maintenance of kit
