Media Management Operator

Job Title: Media Management Operator
Location: London
Duration: 1 month initial contract

Overall Job description
• Responsible for the day to day acquisition, management and transfer of all media. This includes using flexicarts, servers, broadcast software applications and computer equipment in the media management areas
• Management of media is heavily based around, but not limited to, encoding of video streams and formats, conforming of files based on client specifications, delivery of content to the required platform and all necessary file management.
• Ensuring that all orders are completed by the necessary deadline
• When breakdowns occur, liaising with support to ensure systems are restored in the quickest possible time

Responsibilities
• To collate, cache, transfer and manage media required by Playout, Creative Services and Access Services, Compliance and other clients, ensuring all details concerning the material identity are correct.
• To log, prep and spot check cached media to ensure it is ready for delivery and the required technical quality is not compromised.
• To repurpose media for other platforms by means of transcode or simple edits and conforms
• To ensure all associated media (metadata) such as subtitles, separate audio sources and metadata are presented as required (at either input or output stage)
• To quality check material and report faults where required, according to specific guidelines laid down by clients.
• Under code red conditions, to escalate effectively through to resolution to the appropriate support team, and to implement any approved workarounds required by the client.
• To train new Media Management Operators on the full range of technical/computer equipment and working practices and procedures, if required.

Technical Competencies
• A high level of technical skills associated with transmission, video encoding or other media manipulation, via manual and computerised systems
• The ability to work on urgent and overlapping transmission tasks under extreme pressure, without supervision and to verbal brief.
• A meticulous attention to detail and the ability to anticipate problems and resolve them speedily is essential.
• Able to simplify complex problems, processes or projects into component parts explore and evaluate them systematically
