We have a fantastic opportunity for a Media Makeup and Special Effects Technician to join our passionate and creative School of Art.You will provide assistance to the academic staff in the Faculty of Art and Creative Industries in the preparation of practical aspects for various courses.With Bradford being City of Culture 2025, this is a fantastic time to join our team.This is a part-time role working 14 hours per week.Responsibilities include:Ensuring the allocation of all practical resources are organised and maintained and made available across the Faculty as required.To support teaching sessions where required and timetabledEnsuring compliance with College procedures and regulationsProviding general technical support and resourcesMaintaining the studios and workshops to a professional standard.Providing technical assistance, including demonstration, particularly in relation to the operation of equipment and supporting specialist processes for teaching staff and students.Moving and setting up equipment and materials to different locations as required.Carrying out technical duties appropriate to his/her own skills and to prepare various items of equipment and teaching aids as required.Preparing materials for practical classes and ensure, where required, correct disposal of waste.Ensuring safe storage of resources and equipment within the workshops and assist in the ordering of new resources as required.Our ideal candidate will be learner and quality focused with a commitment to our vision of working together to transform lives. You should be able to contribute to our journey to Outstanding, creating a positive working and study environment, and, Equity, Diversity & Inclusion should be embedded within your core values.Education & TrainingDegree or equivalent in Media Make up and/or Special Effects make upGCSE 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in Maths or be prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescaleGCSE 4 - 9 or equivalent level 2 qualification in English or be prepared to pass a test prior to interview to demonstrate level 2 ability and then if appointed achieve within an agreed timescaleIOSH/COSHH Health and safety training or qualifications are desirable but not essentialExperienceAbility to utilise Information Technology and Information, Learning and Technology both within learning and for administrative purposes.Good organisational and administrative skills.Proven ability to carry out risk assessments in line with COSHH and other statutory requirements.
