Job Title: Ingest Operator Location: Chiswick ParkReporting to: Ingest Operations ManagerRoles Reporting: NoneMain PurposeA team member involved in the operation, continued growth and development of the London Media Centre for (see below).The Ingest Operator is primarily responsible for the accurate ingest and QC of all materials into archive, and subsequent preparation of audio files for addition to existing assets that reside within archive.Principal Responsibilities• Under the direction of the shift Ingest Lead, accurately process required ingest jobs to work upon based on Department priorities• Liaise with Media Management team to ensure all required material is processed in time for broadcast• Record tape to file and undertake audio track addition and track tagging as required• Addition of metadata and QC of existing metadata in broadcast systems to ensure fault free broadcast with all assets• Perform technical Quality Assessments as required• Transfer material from video server to archive• Quality Control of audio and video levels of both SD and HD material following industry standards to ensure all processed material meets DCE Technical Specifications• Responsible for housekeeping of video servers and archive• Responsible for ensuring all operational procedures are followed• Ensure all aspects of OFCOM Codes of Practice relating to the channels are observed• Training of staff as required.• Such other duties as the management may from time to time reasonably requireJob DimensionsNumber Direct Reports: 0Number of Indirect Reports: 0Hours of work: 12.5hr shift pattern, averaging 40 hours per week over a shift pattern, will include weekends and nights.This job description does not form part of your contract of employment.Person ProfileExperience/Knowledge• Experience within a multi-channel, fully automated transmission environment• A good operational knowledge of transmission and edit technologies• Strong understanding of video and audio theory• Demonstrated Quality Control experience• Exceptional attention to detail• Operational knowledge of broadcast equipment including vectorscopes, waveforms and VT decksPersonal skills required for role• The ability to work well under pressure.• Good interpersonal and communication skills• Comfortable in an informal environment where teamwork, accessibility and pragmatism are emphasised• Hold themselves & others accountable for results• To be punctual• Literate• Numerate• Ability to identify and prioritise problems• Ability to identify alternatives• Decision making skills• Strong team-player• Full colour vision and hearing
