As a Director who will report to the Production Director acting as the liaison between the producers and gallery staff. Directors are in charge of all aspects of programming, directing live broadcasts, setting up studios to match the vision of the producer and general oversight of the gallery crew.

The key responsibilities of the role include assuming the overall control of the production gallery, vision mixing between multiple live feeds and captions, maintaining the highest standards of programming output and creating running orders. You will also be responsible for carrying out evaluations and appraisal of gallery staff where appropriate and ensuring all promotional and insert items are present and suitable for broadcast.

You will be required to constantly work with the Producer to ensure that the programming is optimized and liaise with the MCR and Technical Operations Supervisor regarding comms issues and picture problems throughout the day.

There is an element of people management in this role; the key responsibilities for this include conducting performance appraisals, monitoring timekeeping, completing a daily log and agreeing objectives with the team.

There are number of skills that are vital for the role, these include the ability to react quickly and stay calm under pressure, computer literate, excellent communications skills, creativity and strong decision making skills. It is also required that applicants have two to four years experience working in television production, have previous television directing experience in a live environment and hold a degree in communication, broadcasting, production or television arts.
