Digital News Assistant

London

The Digital News Assistant works with the CNBC.com EMEA editorial team to clip videos, produce stories using a content management system, pitch story ideas, as well as report and write original news stories for a fast-paced, business and financial news website.

We are looking for an eager, fast learner, who is looking for their first full-time job in business journalism. You will be someone who enjoys enhancing news stories with graphics and video. The role requires a great team player, who is willing to help reporters, editors and producers by sourcing the best graphics for their stories.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Add value and enhance CNBC.com news coverage by incorporating video, story links, slide shows, graphics etc.
Watch CNBC TV output, curate and clip the best video for the website
Schedule video clips by coordinating with TV producers
Write abstracts and headlines for videos and tag videos with relevant keywords
Write stories and features on the wide range of subjects covered by CNBC
Find images using image databank, and resize and edit images using photoshop
Produce CNBC.com stories using the Content Management System in a timely manner and ability to meet immediate deadlines
Work on slideshows and other forms of telling stories using pictures and graphics

SKILLS, EXPERIENCE AND REQUIREMENTS

In depth knowledge of the content and subject material covered on CNBC
Strong interest and knowledge of financial markets, economics, geopolitics and the leading players in the world of business
Ability to work in a team and across all departments and locations, ensuring a smooth running web site that is 100% accurate without typos and errors
Excellent verbal communication skills; coupled with strong research and writing skills
Flexible; with the willingness to undertake shift work associated with working for a 24 hour news operation
Previous experience choosing and editing videos and graphics for a news website highly desired
Fluency in English to native standard
Experience of working in content management systems.
Knowledge of photoshop or photo editing tools
Knowledge of video editing software/tools would be a big plus
Must be eligible to work in the UK
