Job purpose: The purpose of the post is to generate factual and formatted programme ideas, to develop those ideas to the point of being commissionable, and to produce high quality proposals, taster tapes and other materials to support those ideas. Generating original and commissionable ideas for factual and formatted series, both on their own and in collaboration with other members of the Development team. These ideas should be in line with LSPTV's creative and commercial aims. Responsibilities:• Conducting accurate supporting research for new ideas. • Writing high-quality programme proposals. • Producing taster tapes - setting up filming, producing and directing shoots, edit producing. • Identifying brilliant new on-screen talent and forming strong working relationships with those individuals. • Securing access to organisations, groups and individuals that might form the basis of new series. • Where needed, finding and casting suitable experts and contributors for new ideas. • Overseeing more junior members of the Development team to ensure their work is of the required standard and meets external and internal deadlines. • When required, running internal creative meetings. • With an understanding of LSPTV's creative and commercial needs, identifying opportunities in the marketplace for new types of programme and original subject areas. • Any other related tasks as assigned by the Director of Development and other Senior Management staff. PERSON SPECIFICATION:Must be able to demonstrate a track record of originating and developing both factual and formatted ideas that have gone on to be commissioned and been successful once on air.Good ongoing knowledge of each broadcaster's output and current commissioning needs.Ability to work effectively as part of a development team.Strong proposal-writing skills.Ability to supply accurate and reliable research.Strong production skills and editorial judgment for the production of taster tapes.Ability to identify and form working relationships with suitable on-screen talent, both new and established talent.Basic understanding of key commercial considerations - the need to develop returnable series and the need to develop ideas that can be produced for relevant broadcaster tariffs.Interpersonal skills needed to oversee the work of more junior members of the team and to encourage their creative contributions to the team.If you are interested, please send your Cover Letter and your CV.
