Deputy Editor

To support the Editor in the day to day management of the production and the production teams, ensuring compliance and editorial content are maintained to the highest standard. To drive forward planning across all areas of the programme, ensuring the show is topical, creative, inspirational and surprising.

• Lead, with the editor, creative editorial flair across all areas of the programme
• Manage on air talent - and search for and develop new talent
• Assist Editor and conduct production meetings, script editing and monitoring show as required
• To assist the Editor in viewing TM shows for compliance and editorial content
• Stand-in for editor for holiday and sick leave
• To be present alternately with the editor on Studio floor/gallery keeping content legal and compliant.
• To contribute to the delivery of output that is on time, to budget and to the highest quality.
• To support the Editor and Production Manager in keeping the production motivated and on budget
• Continual support for the Editor, assisting to ensure high standards are maintained and that the programme continues with a high journalist integrity
• Lead and motivate the team, ensuring they have clear and realistic objectives. Monitor performance, give constructive feedback, lead by example and treat people with respect and dignity.
• To continually support the Editor in overall management of the show and the development of staff.
• To assist the Production Manager with the recruitment process by viewing applications and taking part in interviews where necessary. In addition you may also be requested to assist in the selection process.
• To review and analyse the programme's ratings, identifying reasons for trends and anomalies and comparing with ratings for entire daytime schedule. This includes being aware of any competition and seeking ways in which to outperform that competition.
• Use good judgement and fairness when distributing potential guest's information via text and trail lines and managing the information.
• Assist Editor in the training and supervision of the Producers to ensure they can provide cover and take on managerial duties.
• With the management team develop brand extensions and come up with ideas for the daytime slate.
• To be proactive in keeping up with changes to legal and compliance rulings and potential changes that could affect the way the show operates.
• Be across complaints and legal issues that need further investigation required by the Editor.
